HD radio

I have a FX4 (which is based on the XLT trim) with Sync 3. But I can't see HD radio show up.
Am I missing something? There is a lot of HD radio in my area but it never shows up. The pictures on the Ford web site show HD radio on the Sync 3 configuration. Did they cripple the HD radio in the XLT versions???

According to the manual on page 463, there is a setting that allows you to access HD FM or AM--might want to dig into that. Also pages 432-435 have some useful troubleshooting tips for HD reception.

Go to sync settings, audio, and select hd radio on. Only thing I don’t like about it is that it skips constantly between hd and standard if you are in a bad spot. Mine is always off

I looked there and there is no HD settings available. It looks like mine does not have HD radio. I did see somone is selling a HD upgrade for Sync3 (you replace the CD player with one with HD radio). Costs $599

I have the same problem. HD radio was working on my way home from the dealer, but sometime in the past few months, it has gone away. There is no button to select (on screen or physical) to turn on HD radio. When my wife took it to the dealer, they couldn't understand that she was talking about HD radio, not satellite radio. All the trouble shooting I have come across speaks to signal strength issues, but nothing about how to make it work if it goes missing. HELP!

The XLT doesn’t have HD radio, at least I know the 2018s didn’t. Things may have changed for 2019+

599 is a rip off, if you want to take the time, you can get the same unit for less than 200, sometimes 75 from car-part.com, i.e. a wrecking yard... that is where they got it.
