Hello Everyone!
Been lurking on the forum on and off for awhile now and figured I might as well bite the bullet and join! I'm in Ontario, Canada and am longtime Expedition owner, started out with a 2000 Eddie Bauer that I only recently retired with almost 500,000 km's on it. Also had a 2010 Eddie Bauer EL with 185,000 km's on it, that we very recently traded in on a 2016 Expedition Max Platinum and absolutely love this latest model. I found the forum when doing some research on the 2016, looking to see what people thought of the 2016 as well as the 2015 with the new Ecoboost engine.
Our 2000 was a heck of a great truck, never gave us any trouble at all. Going to the 2010, while it was a big change in terms of years, it was not much of an upgrade. The seats were a downgrade, the engine had more power which was great, the EL version was awesome with the extra room and thank god I no longer had to remove the 3rd row seating and could just push a button. This was really negated by all the new problems we had with the 2010, it seemed like something was always breaking on it, window regulators, rear wiper, AC & heating, exhaust manifolds and studs, tailgate corroding (my 2000 still had a better tailgate with no rust) and there were lots and lots of other things. I loved the 5.4 in both the 2000 and 2010, and was really really hesitant to go with the new 3.5 Ecoboost. We tow a heavy travel trailer (only ever with the 2010) and the 5.4 did a wonderful job of it, however with all the issues we were having, it was time to get rid of it.
I must say that after taking out the 2016 for a test drive, I was blown away, as was my wife. This is like a whole different Expedition compared to the 2010, seats are comfy again, it drives and handles like a dream, gets better fuel economy, Sync 3 is really great and that engine is superb. While it is similar still in a lot of ways to the 2010, this is a way more refined version, Ford really nailed it. I just wish they would have updated the darn window regulators and fingers crossed the aluminum tailgate does not corrode again ;-) . We can hardly wait to see how it performs towing with this new engine!
Anyhoo, there you have it in a nutshell and looking forward to participating in the forum!
Best Wishes,
Chuck
