as a new member of this forum i just want to say hello to everyone and see if i can get some help from you guys ...my dad he bought a 98 expedition eddie bauer one and a half year ago and since then he had problems with it and the guys from the garage they don't know what to do no more ,he had a gas sistem put on the car when he bought it and i'm thinking if that sistem is making the problems....the car is misfiring ,he changed the sparkplugs from platinum once to non platinum cos the guy ho put the gas sistem on,said the platinum once are not good for gas but now the car is misfiring again ,they've changed the coil packs aswell and it was ok for about 30 miles after ...misfiring again ,i don't know to much about this car is there anything realy important i need to know before the car gets ever worse?is there any way i can do a test to the ecu to check if is got any errors? please if anyone tell me where can i start looking for the problem will br great .....thanks

Well I know the coil packs don't like to get wet. Also if they are replacing them with the cheap ones (not actual ford parts) then these are really prone to failure (worse than the factory ones).

The factory plugs on the newer trucks are platinum by the way.

You can get replacements on ebay, but they are not factory ford most of the time. They are a whole lot cheaper than the factory pieces, but you get a bad one from time to time from what I hear.

you really need to get the platts back in the truck. the coilsput
out to much voltage for the nonplatts and will erode at
a much higher rate causing out of plug gap misfire
what kind of gas system was put on

ok...i've looked on ebay and what i could find is only aftermarket coils which are cheap but is no point if there no good ,the gas system is called ZAVOLi ALISE , the engine check light is coming on aswell when is misfiring ,is there any way you can check the error codes without a computer and a program ?cos i've got a nissan 300zx tt and i can do a ecu check mysefl and see what errors is got

have them pull the code at autozone. If it is a particular cylinder's misfire code then I'll bet it is the coil or it could even be an injector.

I haven't heard anything great about the ones on ebay, but you can get 2 or 3 of them for the price of one of the real ford ones..... maybe worth a try.

wow.... What is the price of Petrol over there? I didn't know they had big, lumbering SUV's over there...... well you could get a code scanner on ebay or take it to a shop with a scanner.....
