I have a 2012 Expedition EL Limited 4x4 we bought new in 2013. It now has 214k miles. I did the timing at 150k. I used to change the oil every 5k miles with 5w-20 until about 90k miles. Then I changed to 5w-30 and do them at 3k miles. We change the transmission fluid every 30k miles. It was my wife's car, but I just bought her a new 2024 Expy Max Platinum, so I inherited the EL for my work car. We still love it...couldn't let it go.

We have been pulling a 29-foot camper once or twice a year and it still is running the original engine and transmission.

We had to have the hood and tailgate painted due to the typical bubbles, and it could use it again. Also, we had the driver's rocker replaced due to rust, and I plan on doing the passenger side soon.

I would love to hear other's experiences and see pics.

Have been completely happy with our Ford.

We have an 09 that's been ok, not great really. Sitting at 240K miles right now.

The usual wear items have been replaced, all struts, ball joints and bushings. Timing chain tensioners and high volume oil pump was done at 180k miles. Over the years I have put a lot of parts on it. I had a low power issue forever and could not figure it out. it turned out to be a bad brake booster causing the brakes to drag, but only sometimes, I replaced the front calipers and brake master cylinder trying to diag it. No replacement booster is available so I installed a lower mileage used one and have the stability control unplugged because it will drag the brakes when plugged in still.

Front wheel bearings replaced as they were grinding. Replaced the heater hoses a couple times due to leaking. AC compressor as well as TXV went bad, front blower motor, a couple window regulators, rear glass started leaking and no one could save the window on removal so we had to buy new glass. Lots of interior and exterior door handles replaced, interior handle covers are starting to pull up from the door due to age, windows are scratched to hell because the design of the weatherstripping collects ALL the dirt and it destroys the window as you roll them up and down. Recently the steering rack had a major clunk so I had to replace it and a couple tie-rods.

I am religious with oil changes and all fluid changes. I'm meticulous with my vehicles and inspect it during every oil change, if I find and issue I address it before it becomes a bigger issue. whatever parts I used are Motorcraft and if I could not get them I used the best brand I could find (no Autozone valuecraft here).

We replaced it with a 17 Exyp EL with the 3.5EB sitting at 100k miles.

2008 XLT at 330 or 340 miles I think it is now. Never touched except for plugs, and oil every 5,000 miles. It's gonna rust out before it dies likely.

2015 with 242k miles. I do STP engine flush every oil change. Bottle of Rislone every oil change. Use 5w-30 and change it when the computer says. Follow suggested owners manual maintenance and do my own normal maintenance work. Passenger turbo replaced. Transmission rebuilt during a trip in hilly Arkansas. Has timing chain noise currently when cold after starting. Has slow oil leak on top back passenger side of engine that drips down and burns/smells but doesn't lower oil level to the point where I have to add oil before the oil change. Still running well. It's my daily driver.

My '07 is sitting at 323k miles. I bought it in 2017 with 208k miles on it. She runs well, knock on wood.

A few PM and repair items include:
Timing job (I found out the engine is a Ford reman while doing this).
Exhaust manifolds replaced with shorty headers (passenger side as cracked).
Front and rear suspension (lifted with spacers)
ABS pump died. A used unit from LKQ was the replacement.
Multiple rear blower motors.
New pigtail connectors for all COPs and injectors. This fixed my misfire issues.
AC (did this last month when the compressor died. Front and rear TXVs, condenser, compressor, receiver/dryer)
Most rubber hoses and tubing in the engine bay have been replaced.
Trans fluid changed every 30k miles. both diffs and the x-fer case fluids changed every 100k miles. Engine oil every 8k or so.

I was told you should do both turbos at the same time? How expensive was it? I've got a 17' w/95k miles and have this on my mind quite a bit that it's going to be costly to keep her in the long run because of the turbos.
