I went and picked up a seat yesterday at an auto recycler only 20 minutes from my house so now I can concentrate on the cool stuff like tires and a 2-3 inch lift. If I get 285/75/16 tires what would you reccomend for a lift? I am sticking with the stock front and will crank the torsion bars, and I can't decide between the 2 and 3 inch spacer for the rear. I don't want to be to top heavy, but I also don't want to be rubbing anything. Any suggestions based on your personal experience will be helpful. BTW my expy is a 1997 EB
4x4.

if you get that size tire then stock is fine. you can even get 285 75 16 on stock. but if you do lift might as well get the 3" spacer. i was talked out of getting the 2" cause its better to have that extra 1". and then you can put 34s on there. and i think 35s will rub a little.

Yeah you don't need a lift for 33" tires. I run 33s on my rig everyday. You may rub the corner of the front valence, I "trimmed" mine a little. Not sure if it would work with running boards. I agree about the 3" spacers, and will prolly get some in the near future so I can run 35s to go along with my new 4.56 gears I am getting next week.

I realize a lift isn't a necessity to fit the tires, but I would like a little extra ground clearance. I will probably end up going with the 2 inch lift unless there is some great info that says the 3 inch lift can't be beaten.

Also do stock fitment shocks do a great job with a 2-3 inch lift? I know there are some made for lifted expys, but if I can use a quality stock size shock that is probably what I will do.

Almost positive you'll need new shocks. Well at least in the back. haha But to compensate for the slightly bigger tires. I'd definitally reccomend new shocks. Im getting the Pro Comp ES1000 when i lift mine 3.5 in front w/ 2' rear spacer on 285/75/17, I think a set of 4 is like $100. I'd definitally reccomend them with bigger tires & a lift. Go into any auto shop or off road shop & they should carry them. Good luck dude! :)

on ebay its like the same price for the 2" and 3". cause shippings is free for the 3" and you pay for shipping on the 2". or just make your own 2" spacers. i'm going to do that. that way my rig is level and im going to put 35s on it and then body lift later on.

Anyone have links to where some good shocks for a 2-3 inch lift can be purchased? I have been looking everywhere and have come up empty except for the shocks on ebay made for a 1 inch lift.

just call a shock company and tell them what you got, ford expedition year 4x4 etc etc and that it has a #" lift. they should know what you need.

I made an offer of $130 including shipping on the 4'' lift shocks (pro comp ES9000). And then I will get some 3 inch spacers for the rear. A one inch difference shouldn't make any difference, and for the price I doubt that I can find to many other decent shocks.
