The battery was load tested and is claimed as "shot". I get 3-4 4 second bursts of decent cranking before the next few are sluggish, then click only. Because I'm on such a tight budget currently, a new one will have to wait.

The alternator is producing 15.4 VDC. Too high. That may help explain the battery issue.

What I've learned from this forum is that the fuel delivery system may be going out. 4 out of 5 times it starts just fine. Sometimes I have to turn the key to the ignition position until I hear the fuel pump make it's clunk sound, then I turn to crank, and it usually starts.

Sometimes after starting, the gauges peg out as if they were being in self-test mode...but only for a half a second.

Because I don't make payments, is why I have to throw money at it these days. Crapola!

I would consider 14.6 fine. More then likely your fuel issue is caused by the bad battery. If the battery doesn't have enough power it can't do everything it's supposed to while turning the starter.

Also the bad battery would most likely explain your pegging gauges. Better have some jumper cables handy hah.

Thanks. Yeah, I carry jumper cables around fo sho. A new battery will have to wait a few days or so. When I do get one, I hope that makes the fuel pump happy.

Got a new battery today, so the beast should be happy for a while now...Until the next dramatic issue. Just went over 150K miles this week.
