In dash cup holder won't pop back out

I pulled the plastic around my radio and pulled the cup holder back out from inside no problem. Pushed it back and it went to far and didn't come back out till I pushed from behind. I didn't have wrenches to take the next layer off but I figured IDE ask what to expect before I tear in deeper in the morning. Anyone have a clue what is broken I'm guessing it'll be some sort of spring. Also I notice a wire bundle plugged into the back of the cup holder is it supposed to be lighted?

I can't remember exactly but believe a plastic stud that holds the spring in place breaks. I think I just drilled and screwed my spring back in place.

Yes there is a light in there. If you cant figure it out let me know as I can probably take mine out and up load photo.
