Installed my kenwood today, with the idatalink maestro product that i thought would become a phantom product.

Item was beyond easy to install in my ford expedition 2011, used butt connectors, should have went with solder, but i couldnt find my heatshrink.
The module works perfectly with sync.

I tried to get my oem sat antenna to work with my kenwood using the ford splitter, but i couldnt get a signal. Kenwood supplied antenna installed behind the radio, perfect gps reception.

Love this gps! menus are a bit slow, but thats to be expected in these units.

Trying to locate my reverse camera wires, to hook up to the kenwood, then it would be perfect.

Looks great.

Will this unit work in 2012 expy (XLT)?. The radio console in 2012 looks pretty much the same like your 2011 model. I don't have an OEM navigation though. So I will be removing my factory radio and will be installing this unit. Any gotchas I should be careful about?

Thank you. Thats encouraging :). May I ask, where did you purchase the unit with datalink from? I am looking at Ebay and it is being sold for ~ $924. But I dont know if it comes with iDatalink module or not. If you have references for any online stores which sells both together, I would really appreciate it.

the idatalink maestro unit is sold separately from kenwood navigation systems.
i do not believe it is available online yet, was told that it should be available for ordering as of today 8/20. i managed to get mine directly from idatalink.

I changed out the OEM stereo for a Kenwood in my 2008.

Very easy to do in the Expeditions.

I highly recommend (sp) Crutchfield.com. You may pay a little more, but their technical support is worth the extra cash. I had an issue with the module for the steering wheel controls and they talked me through everything.

Also, when I received a bad stereo from them (other truck), they made good with a brand new unit fedexed to me.

They also supply you with all the wiring codes, hardware and all sorts of installation advice.

Good luck.
