2006. Last year had some vacuum issues. ended up replacing the hose running from the brake booster check valve to the heater controls, awi solenoid and vacuum reservoir. It had just crumbled to nothing.

Still had a vacuum issue in that even slight acceleration would cause the heat / a/c vacuum motors to not function. Backing off the throttle would allow air to flow from the vents again. I still had heat but it was annoying.

Fix was a new brake booster check valve. heat / a/c blows steady now. Apparently crumbling hose was sucked into the valve not letting it function. Just glad it didn't affect the main booster valve as this thing is unstoppable without boost.

Sounds like, not exactly the same, a problem on my 2003. One day all the blower air was coming out windshield defrost. I figured I was gonna have to go to dealer for expensive repair. Then I decided to do an internet search. I think I googled (ford expedition blower air defrost) and up pops a YouTube video to fix. It said look behind battery near firewall for some small hoses and a Y. The hose will likely be crumbling. It was so I pulled some replacement hose out and repaired it and was all set. Prolly 15 minutes from problem to fixed including internet search. That made me a total convert to looking up things on the internet instead of running to repair shop.

Yeah, that woulda been a good hundred (or more) bucks saved. Youtube has some good ones on ford pickups which usually applicable to our expeditions of the same vintage.

Yes. Hundred bucks best case. Worst case, an unscrupulous shop would have pulled the dash and charged me a couple thou$and. That's why I love to do my own work, if I can. I do have a good shop in Fairport (Deweys off O'Connor) and they always do good work.

That's one for the books. Like the old saying, thought I've heard it all. Goes to show, its not always the obvious path. Life's kinda the same way! Thanks for the post, have to remember that one!
