Is my mpg reasonable?

For EPA Tests, the vehicles are run with a Standard Fuel, equating to 92 Octane, and with all the settings the vehicles comes up with on startup. That is why ASS, and Normal mode return. They do not do the test in ECO, and ASS is active.
ok so this makes sense that i am getting lower than the 17 mpg in normal city driving. I always have my ASS OFF so the red lights ate killing my fuel economy. Thanks

The idle kills the mileage...but if ur hey mileage is low, somethings wrong. My 20 nav 2wd is still avg over 19mpg mixed. The fe is phenomenal for such a big girl

I've gotten 15.3 on average consistently for the last 4 years. 2019 XLT, no tow package.

If I leave it in sport mode for most of the tank it dips down into the 13s.
19 limited stealth edition w/ HD Tow, 3.73 gear 4x4 (not the max)

I get about 12.7 mpg "real time" with Alot of stop and go City driving (without using auto stop/start feature) no towing and just me easy driving

When im looking at the real time fuel economy guage my fuel economy bar is between 4mpg-7mpg when accelerating from a red light lightly which kills the mpg overall.

purely On the highway im at about 19-23mpg range
The only true way to know what fuel mileage a vehicle is getting, is to fill the tank reset the the trip odometer and drive until you need gas. At this point take the miles on the trip odometer and divide them by the exact amount of gallons of gas it took to fill the tank. This is your true mpg. You can’t rely on gas mileage meter in the vehicle or using an instantaneous meter. When taking off from a stop large vehicles will always show single digit values, it takes multiples of fuel compared to steady driving to start from a stop. I have a 2017 Expedition EL 2WD and consistently get 19 mpg combined and 22 mpg highway.

Even better, record the fuel added and elapsed miles every fill-up and track the calculated fuel economy over time.

My 2015 XLT (non-Max) 4WD averaged 17.29 MPG over 100,000 miles using the manual calculation method. The graph of each calculated value shows a very consistent line with a few highs and a few lows.

By comparison, my 2002 XLT 4WD with 5.4 V8 averaged 13.27 MPG over 23,500 miles.

My 24 SPP averages about 17.3MPG. HWY driving I get 21 MPG. What really kills the fuel mileage is having the truck outside in the winter and doing short trips. I started to put the truck inside the attached garage and it warms up much faster now plus no 15 min idle to device the truck. A noticeable difference in amount of MPG…

Maybe a engine heater? I hate getting into a cold truck/car, that's why I moved here. No cold or snow but the hurricanes suck!

Yeah… I got family living in Florida. Those hurricanes down there really suck balls… a few years ago one such thing flattened my grams place. Totally destroyed it. Nothing salvageable.

We lost all but the block walls and some of the clothes. Took us a year to get back into it. Luckily we have very good insurance.

After 25,000 miles my '24 Stealth has averaged 14.6 MPG overall. My best MPG was 24.6 and my worst at 9.9 (towing). I only use 91+ octane gas. I calculate each fill up individually. I have found that the truck's computer is very conservative and is often more than 1 MPG off showing better mileage. I guess Ford figures most of us don't know how to do math! I've added a switch that keeps the engine off system in the off status all the time so there is no engine stopping. I rarely use ECO mode. Have about 5,000 miles towing using the Tow setting and periodically use Sport (going back to 2H after it goes to 4H) just for fun. Your mileage may vary. BTW I live in the People Republic of NY so gas is pretty expensive here.

I'm fairly new here, but was on the Ranger 5G forum for almost 5 years. Used the Ranger to tow our travel trailer, and as an everyday driver for this old senior citizen.
Now we have the 2019 Expedition, and like many posts about mpg.....I just don't bother myself with mpg. It is what it is. This is an almost 3 ton suv/truck with a high output twin turbo engine....it WILL suck gas. I use 89 around town and 91-93 when towing.....and, it actually gets better mpg towing than the Ranger did. I noticed it does not work as hard as that 4 cyl turbo did when towing.
I run tow mode when towing and sport mode around town, and I do not baby it....I enjoy it. I get gas when I need gas and do not concern myself with mpg.
This was a subject that on the Ranger Forum was just beat to death to the point that many advised if you don't like the mpg....get a Prius.
And in the long run, if you enjoy your 3 ton behemoth what does it matter whether you get 21.948743762356 or 22.94573638459 mpg.

I use it as a tool. If I see a big change in fuel economy, I wonder what's changed. Has the gas changed? Have my driving habits changed? Is something wrong with the vehicle?

My 2019 with 80,000+ miles, using 87 octane gas, averages 17.8mpg around town. If I reset it on the highway going 65mph, it gets 24.9 to 26mpg. I went to Georgia and set it on Eco and peaked at 28.2 mpg highway driving.
I admit I drive easy most of the time and here, all the roads are pretty flat.

Just filled up today. I got 18.7 in combined driving. 87 octane lowers the power so I always run 93 except for the coldest winter days where I will use 89. I do watch the tire pressures, although I typically don’t see any loss, sometimes seasonally they need topping. I’m not at all easy on the throttle.

Last couple months I was getting really bad fuel economy, mostly short trips was averaging around 10-12 MPG, but I knew I needed the cam phasers replaced... Got that done last week, so yesterday, took it for a 60 mile spin, 30 miles up the coast with a headwind, 30 miles back with a tail wind, and very little traffic, so I was able to maintain a steady 55 MPH (the speed limit) on cruise control the whole way both ways. Averaged 19 MPG going north, and 21 MPG going south, for a average of 20 MPG

this is on a 2019 Expedition 4x4 w/ the HD tow (3.73:1 final drive). I have 18" wheels and the tires were 33 PSI per the TPM, I need to top them off to 35 PSI. Tires are the Wrangler Territory that came on the 18" wheels, which were F150 takeoffs.
