Is my understanding correct?

I've been trying to look up all I can about the HD towing package since my truck doesn't have it. The differences I'm seeing are a bigger radiator, bigger transmission cooler, trailer plug, and 3.73 gears. From what I've seen the hitches are the same across the board. And the suspension is the same as well. If that's the case I can handle swapping out the radiator and cooler at some point. The trailer plug isn't a big deal. I need to swap a 5 pin on there any way. Am I correct on the parts?

I have a 21' boat I tow in the summer. It weighs about 5000lbs with fuel. I only tow it a few miles from storage to the lake. But I'm thinking for the future when the family might want to take the boat somewhere else for a family trip.

Oh yeah, it's a 2008 EL.

EL's come with 3.73's regardless of the HD tow package. On non-EL's 3.73's is an additional option not included with the HD Tow. The hitches are all Class IV and I think you are correct on everything else. HD Tow is wired for trailer brakes, and includes a harness to plug under the dash which makes it easy to install a trailer brake controller.

Thank you. I was doing some looking around this morning and found I had the 3.73's. So that made me a little happy. And explains why the truck is still peppy off the line. I did find the wires marked for trailer wiring taped to the back of the 4 pin plug. It's good to know it won't take much to add the HD tow package to the truck in the future.

Edit: Can any post up a pic of their transmission cooler? I'm curious what the difference is between the standard and the HD cooler.

I tried to snap a pic of my transmission cooler. But my phone lense is only so wide. It looks about 2" tall and 12" long.

FWIW, I ran across a new Limited model on the lot when I was at the dealer at lunch. It had the HD towing package on it. I peaked through the grill and the transmission cooler looked identical to the one on my truck. So I need to check the radiator before ordering a new one. I'm wondering if the EL's came with the cooling upgrades to deal with the extra weight?
