We have this common IWE issue with our 2003 Expedition (2H mode makes sucking/grinding noise at speed, something snaps into place when switched to A4WD and the noise stops, and the car in A4WD drives normal with no weird noise and no problems).
The service advisory (as far as I can understand) says to just cap the vacuum line to disable 2H mode and drive in A4WD. [ https://www.expeditionforum.com/thr...ise-from-front-wheel-area-july-23-2024.56448/ ]
I'm fine with this solution, but am not an expert and can't figure out which vacuum line to pull and cap, since the inside of my expy doesn't look the same as the F150 or whatever they used for the illustrations.
The car drives fine with no issues in A4WD mode. Is it a sufficient long term solution to simply never use 2H mode? Is there some additional benefit to pulling the above vacuum line and capping it?
Thanks for any help!
