Hello, I have a 2000 Expy 4x4. It has 114k miles on it and runs like a champ, minus one little detail. The transmission kicks when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear during slow exceleration. Does anyone have any ideas, it doesnt kick during any other time or during quick exceleration.

Go faster then......lol.

These trannys are controlled by your cpu and it can control shift firmness. Does it just feel like it is shifting hard or is it something else?

It doesn't stick or refuse to shift it simply kicks, kind of punches the truck forward. It doesn't have any problems shifting out of any other gear or down shifting during fast exceleration on the highway. The overdrive light does not come on at all. Fluid is clean, it has actaully done it for the last 12k miles. I took it to local shop and they said they could't find anything wrong with it. The expy is completely stock.

really weird. try putting it into 1st, and shifting it into 2nd on your own. see if that does anything thing different.

My 2000 Eddie Bauer does this too. It really sucks. I bought mine with 140,000 miles on it and it did it maybe 1 time out of 20 shifts only while going slow.

I nearly have 170,000 miles on it now and its 9 times out of 10. If I accelerate hard it will shift so hard the serpantine belt will squeak.

If I`m towing 4000 lbs or more it will shift awesome, hard or slow acceleration.

I`ve got to the point, in rush hour traffic or slow driving around down I`ll manual shift from 1-2 so it does not bang into 2nd.

I've got so use to it now that mentally I know when its going to do it and I let off the accelerator to allow it to hit 2nd a little softer, I cant imagine that the hard shift is good for the drive train.

If anyone has Ideas I`m open for suggestions.

I've had the filter/fluid changed, tried Lucas hard shift stopper, marvel and countless other things.

No Codes either.

Mine kinda does this also... I think it's all in the way you manipulate the petal. I've learned that sometimes the expy wants a soft touch while other times just wants to be pressed a little harder. I ease into the harder presses & she doesn't kick. I usually only get a kick now when I have cruise control on going uphill.

Now ya guys have me all worried, hah... =\
