Hello everyone I’m sorry in advance for any confusion on this post but this cost me a lot of time and hardship just trying to see if I can help other expedition owners out. To begin I was lost on trying to figure out where black vacuum supply line illustrated in one of the pictures above went. Me being an engineer I did the reverse and took apart the entire dash and followed from the main source which is the vent solenoid assy part numbe- Ford (2L1Z-19D611-AA
to the firewall entry point. Which I then was able to understand that this system has a line inside the cabin and a connecting point AT THE FIREWALL WHICH IS THE GROMMET YOU SEE FROM THE ENGINE. Turns out that my disconnected black vacuum supply line that is in the engine bay goes connected INSIDE the black grommet there is entry point for it, well really two ports one for the hot water line the other for the black vaccume supply line which in my car was disconnected and I had no idea where it came from or if it broke inside my car interior. At least form me reading this forum and many others I was unable to tell that the black vacuum line had a external connecting point hub on the firewall via the grommet as I was already thinking the entire line was broken from inside of the cabin ie why I pulled the entire dash out. My line inside was perfectly intact in my case which was good however all the lines that where made from that brittle old tubing was changed both at the connector points near the battery and the one line that feeds closer to the engine. Thus after changing those Little hoses along with connecting the vaccine supply line back into the port inside the grommet I was able to regain my ac controls not just through the defrost and thus to have power on the vents both in front and rear as it is a system that works on vacuum. Also post note Although I fixed that problem, I needed to change only the blend door actuators as the gears in those had failed in all three the main one in the front and the two in the back. Hope this helps anyone and wasn’t to confusing just trying to save you time and hard ache from pulling the dash.
