So I did my window shopping today and I think I made some good decisions.

for my head unit, a JVC 6.1 double din dvd/nav/b.t. (model kwnt3hdt)
for the sub I chose a Pioneer Champion series 12'' (model tsw3002d4) w/ a vented box
for my amp I found a Planet Audio 1200w mono amp (model tq1201d)

This package would come with the 4ga. amp kit, the radio mount kit & wiring harness, cotton baffling for the box, and an upgraded pair of RCA's for a total out the door price of $950

The JVC radio has more features, fits easier, and has the same warranty of the $1000-$1200 pioneers and Kenwoods
The sub handles 1000W RMS all day long in a proper vented box
and the amp will put out a continuous 900W of power.
overall I think a pretty decent setup and a very good balance of sound quality, bass output and price.

now nothing is set in stone and there is always room to make changes, I am open to input.

thats a nice head unit. good choice on jvc. i love mine. its a basic cd with front aux but im going to get another jvc. all the same as the higher priced decks but still works great. but get this wiring instead! http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17775_Kicker-09PKD1-PKD1.html im going to get it once i get the money. the kit is usually $400 but on sonicel its $200. i love their prices! crutchfield its $400. just a thought since its 0 gauge dual amp kit to 4 gauge cable for each separate amp, for later on, until you get a 4 channel, which i would get since your getting all this anways. the kit comes with everything you need except rcas. so get the rcas your getting. but yeah over all thats a good set up till you get a 4 channel.

Thanks Jesusthug, It looks like they make a hell of a product from that video! but overall I still like the pioneer champ pro. but damn those are loud.

I want to tell you guys about an idea I have for getting a crap-ton of music in my truck with the $400 price tag of an I-pod.
I think that If I got a hard drive, (either a tiny solid state drive, an internal Sata, or an external/portable) formatted it for FAT32, and used my power inverter to power it, I could easily store 10,000+ songs (or a few less if I add some movies!!)
I am going to try it once my system is installed, I will do a write up with pictures and stuff if you guys want. the total for parts should be less than $100, $50 if you have a power inverter already.

It also dawned on me that I had a set of Kicker mids somewhere, and sure enough I came across my set of kicker DS680, and DS680.2 6x8's with the crossovers and the tweeters!, so I just need to decide on an amp to drive them all and then buy that sweet Kicker Wiring kit Panda recommended. thanks again Panda.

I have another question to pose: of the DS680 and the DS680.2, which one's are for the front doors, and what one's are for the rear doors? I need to get them labeled
