I feel like my 2020 Expedition Max Platinum is super loud on cold start, especially in winter months. I'm in Wisconsin so that's like half the year. I only have 40k miles on the vehicle. My vehicle almost is as loud as a diesel.

If it’s cold they’ll idle very high (1,000-1,200 rpm) for awhile until the engine reaches a certain temp where it begins to drop the rpm’s down slowly. Once sufficiently warmed up it will idle around 750 rpm. The drone mine puts out during high idle is obnoxious and unpleasant.

My 2.7 ecoboost f150 also behaved the same when cold and could wake the neighbors if I let it idle for to long on early morning commutes.

They are very loud on start up especially in cold months. They told me its "within the normal range". If its not the cam phasers, the waste gates also rattle when cold. Once mine warms up, it is quite but it can be annoying.

Like @apex96 mentioned they idle high on cold start and it can take 5+ minutes to come down, especially if you remote start and idle.
