loud pop from under engine

my 2000 ford 4x4 made a loud pop when i tried to start it, then died. when i did start it, the rpms had to be over 2000 to run. if not, it died. i am thinking it is a vacuum hose, but i am unable to find it, or anything written on it. i could use some help. all is appreciated.

Check to see if the engine threw a spark plug. If so, you'll see a coil that is in pieces or out of place.
