Just want to know what is considered a low idle for a running expedition V8 engine and what it may mean if anything?

Running well, mine idles around 600-700. After being on the freeway for a long time though, it will run more like 450-500, and thats when it starts to shake. Just haven't had the time to look for the cause. Is yours shaking at idle? If so, look for Lane24, he has a very good thread on the cause for the rough idle that is linked through his signature. Hope that helps.

No there is no shaking, it is just idling around 600-700. Thought that may be kind of low.

Thanks

Too low. I would check IAC and throttle body for carbon buildup.

One way to test it is to tap the IAC while it is idling- if the idle goes up replace the IAC. it should idle around 700rpm no less than 600 and no more than 900 [warm].

thats a good idle. when ever i would change the tune on my edge it would get all screwy and the idle would go up to 900 sometimes. then it would stop. i have a video of it you want me to post it.
