I bought a 2005 Expedition, it has the factory navigation in it. Its okay, but it often gets confused about some of its directions. Does anyone know if you can use discs from a newer system, like from a '07 or '06? The navigation is a nice thing to have, and I like to test it out just around town. An example of how it likes to mis-guide us is, I'm sitting at a traffic light at the intersection of the street that turns in to my road. Its about four miles down the road, all I have to do is make a right hand turn and then its a straight shot from there. So, I press the home button on the navigation system and it will tell me to take a "slight right turn" on to a road that angles parallel to my road, crossing a set of RR tracks, continue on for about 3 miles, have me turn right and continue for another mile, crossing the same set of RR track that I previously crossed. Then, turn left on to my road, from there I will drive another mile and two thirds. Whats up with dat?
You'd have thought they had the technology back then for them systems to Learn driving patterns...or maybe its just me?? lol

That's really regrettable to hear the previous generation nav is so horrible. I have to repeat for clarification for those looking looking at the current gen Expy's w/nav. The Mcrosoft Sync navigation unit is hands-down one of the best factory units I have ever had the pleasure to use. The graphics, the user interface, the voice commands, everything about it is exemplary.

For those looking to purchase a previous gen, it sounds like the common thread says to pass on one with factory nav. Rather, get a pioneer, alpine or kenwood to replace the factory head-unit. As I said in another nav thread, anything but a stick-on unit on the windshield.

But for the record, the current gen sync nav rocks!!
