yes very true , but Ford has to meet the EPA guide lines for fuel eco so they make so many 4.6 2wd with a 3.31 gearhell, it's underpowered in the 2wd as well. I've had cars with the same power and they still had to work pretty hard on some hills.

My '98 will be coming out of storage soon. I will drive it 80 mile round trips, 4X a week, all highway interstate. After the initial tank of old Stabil treated gas burns out, I will clock a few fills and see if the 4.6 2WD on a steady 70mph cruise across open flat land can deliver upper teens highway MPG.
