Hey,
Little twist to my muffler update. I was going to try and do it on the super cheap and mostly on my own and just found out my cousins son (Lexus mechanic and good) has access to a buddies garage, lift, tools and welder and he's willing to let us use it after hours:Rock on:

This got me thinking. What do you guys think I could get done for between $200-$300, plus of course a couple cases of beer and a little sumpthin ($) for their help.

Looking for moderately to fairly loud on the outside with low drone in. Don't really want to open up the magna vs. flow vs. other debate (anything will sound better than what I have).

I know someone on here had a single in/dual out both dumped on the passenger side that I thought was nice. I've got the stock muffler set up. The existing pipes look solid and I'd like to reuse them or at least parts of them, if possible.

Any other ideas??

Thanks.

Sorry if this is a dumb post and that that amount of money will only get me to where I started (rear cat delete and install glasspack) but thought I'd ask.

stock98eb not a dumb question. if you search on here for exhaust we've had this debate before. look up videos to see how they sound and go with what sounds best to you if the sound is what you are concerned with. if performance is what you are looking for, then a catback would be best since the stock y-pipe is constrictive.

and bh try halving your sig pic size.

if you have access and people with the skills.... have them do a rear cat delete, then cut factory Y and run true duals to flowmaster 40s and then have them dump behind the rear wheels....

or if too much... get a single in dual out muffler of your choice (IMO flowmaster 40 series) and then run the pipe for duals out the back

My last Q on the topic, I promise.
Anywhere on-line, or do any of the national auto parts places carry the pipes for both of your scenarios or is it always a completely custom fab job?
Thanks

well on the true dual set up you will probably have to have a lot custom bent... but if you want something simple it would probably be the easiest to get a muffler to replace the stock one and use mostly the stock piping.... but if you need small sections of pipe like 45s, 90 deg bends usually most autoparts store sell them... ie autozone/napa... or if you have access to a pipe bender you can order 5ft sections of pipe... or another option might be check some muffler shops and see if they will bend the pipe and or cut the pipe as well...

you could always just go with no muffler, ive had a 28"glasspack, single chamber cherrybomb extreme, and now just no muffler and i think it sounds the best...its really not too crazy loud but has a real deep tone to it. and for all you guys who have done a rear cat delete, will it throw a cel if i just cut it out n weld in pipe (without o2 sensor spacers or a tuner)...the truck is a 98 eddie baurer, i really want to do this but i dont want to get too deep in modifications to make a cel go away

i found what panda is talking about once before... there is a spacer that makes it so your o2 sensor is not so far into the pipe it pulls it out more therefore it gets less exhaust gas across it and fools the computer or something like that. sry normally i would search but im in work mode i work nights and when i get off work i go home jump on here for a min go to bed wake up and straight back to work haha. thats why i havent posted as much lately.

I didn't have to do anything when I did a rear cat delete or my true duals with no X or H pipe and no CEL problems
