I had timing chains, Both turbos and cats replaced in December. I brought my own parts and it slipped time and the mechanic wont warranty it because of that. I also found out the compression in cylinder 2 is only 120psi. so my question is do I re do the timing chains Can get them done for$2500 ? replace the engine? or do the engine and trans at once and have a new drive train for 12000. truck is in good shape, no rust. lots of new parts. 200000 miles?

This is the problem with own parts, they can always refuse guarantee.
Really, saving pennies by loosing thousands makes no sense here. Always use OEM parts!

My suggestion is to buy a cheap endoskop camera für your phone and check all cyl. for valve damages.
When everything is fine redo the timing job at your Ford dealer and just pay the lesson learned.

If you see damage to the cyl or valves...that would be a nightmare. Let's not hing about that.
Never try to save money on timing jobs.

I you are talking 3.5 engines are so precise on timing it is unbelievable 1 or 2 teeth off your turbos won’t come to life and the engine has little power. If for some reason the mechanic goes back in to time the engine make sure they replace the internal water pump. Yes they have an external and internal water pumps.
I’m not sure about the compression that in itself may be grounds for a new engine.
Also these turbocharged engines have to have a specific thermostat that is designed for these engines. It is a dealership thermostat. The ones they sell at your local parts store are not the right one. They will cause your 3.5 to overheat. As far as transmission they usually only need the torque converter replaced. If it is feeling like you’re driving over rumble strips that is the convertor. Hope this helps you and others.

Thanks, the internal water pump and oil pump were replaced upon timing chain replacement.
