I have been thinking about one of these...whats the difference between these and what they use in a police car? meaning quality of recording. One thing...is there a way to extend recording, like if your on a road trip?

BakerEdition I have seen these used as dash cams for police use as well as civilian use. Also like rexster314 said you can buy different sized memory cards for longer recording.

Do you have any stealthier cams? Something you can just leave mounted in the car without it being noticed by thieves?

Like a small cam you can hide in the radiator grille and permanently connect into the car's electric circuit, that would automatically begin recording when you start the car.
Or a cam that replaces your rear view mirror and looks as much as possible like a regular mirror.

Basically a set and forget type cam. I've used windshield mount cams and always gave up after a few weeks because of the hassle of having to take them off the windshield every time i left the car and the reinstall them again before driving.

Betro what are you "007" LOL...can you run this camera be wired to run of vehicle power while keeping the battery charged? also be ignition sensitive meaning on with the key off with the key? I have a laptop in my truck..can I USB to laptop and see what the monitor sees or play back if I record something..

Worse... I'm the NSA, lol.
Seriously, i just want to avoid getting my car broken into without having to disconnect and hide the cam everytime.

I googled a bit a found a very small 1080p dash cam that can also automatically start recording when you apply power to it. So I could connect it into the accessory circuit and it would run with the car.
It's called "Mobius". Costs $90 on Amazon and about $70 on ebay (with free shipping from China, i.e. takes a few weeks to receive it). I might order it. It has very good reviews. The only downside I've read about is that some of them tend to heat up quite a bit.
