Hello all. Recently sold my sedan and I'm hoping to replace it with an Expedition. I just viewed what appeared to be a winner. Clean 2003 XLT, teal w/tan molding, good paint w/ good clear coat, decent drivers and passenger seat, no smoking, ticking, or cackling noises. However, there was a ((ton)) of rust on the hitch, especially the underside. I easily peeled 2-3 layers of loose metal from just below the pin connector. I noticed quite a but on the frame as as well, but mostly in the rear of the vehicle. He wanted $4K due to it only having 104K original miles. It's been sitting since Nov. 2014. Going to be an interesting search I see. I just came across an '03 FX4 with over 220K miles, but has been taken good care of. We'll see I guess. Going to see it tomorrow. Glad to be apart of the forum!

Welcome to the site.

I would ask why it was sitting since 2014 if nothing was wrong with it. I'm cheap, to me $4000 seems high for a rust bucket.

You can get a southern vehicle for less than what he is asking, probably in better shape also.

Thanks again. He explained to me that he had to many vehicles on the road / and to insure. The tags expired Nov. 2014 and that's when he said it began sitting. Whatever the reason, I would feel safe hauling a push mower with that hitch. Not a chance.
