I've got a Black 98 Expdeition XLT 4.6 that I've owned since it was brand new. Now285,000 miles and five transmissions laer, it's still going, although no where near as strong as it did back in the day. It's my 19-year-old sons daily driver and I don't think it's going to last much longer.

Mods over the years: Nearly all the mods have been done prior to 100,000

Traillmaster 4" suspension lift kit with Rancho 9000 shocks, Warn 9000 winch hidden behind the front bumper, Powerdyne supercharger, MSD Ignition system, Jackson headers, Flowmaster exhaust, BBK throttle body, Diablo Power Chip, aftermarket black headlights and taillights, front and rear bumpers powdereded coated black, Rosch leather interior, customized center console and a number of other mods I can't even begin to remember.

In it's day, the truck was quite an eyecathcer and a great performer, but now, sadly, it's showing it's age. The supercharger was removed about six months ago (Bearings gone) and I haven't been able to gather the cash to have it rebuilt. Suspension is still good, but it needs a little TLC and new tires (or used) tires. Steering is a little loose and I'm afraid I'm looking at replacing the rack and pinon steering.

Because of it's age and mileage, there have been no offers when I put it up for sale so it looks like I'm going to have to keep it going for a while. I'll be checking this site regularly for suggestions as problems arise and if I can offer any advice from my experience on working on it, I'll be happy to help out in any way I can.

To be honest, the only reason I've held onto this ride so long is because I always wanted to convert the truck into a Diesel rig, but I haven't been able to find anyone who wants to do that.

Anyway, a big Arizona howdy!

Same here. The truck orginally came with cloth seats with a front bench. I bought leather bucket seat combo on ebay, then found a set of Rosch seat covers, also on ebay. There's a neighborhood guy who does upholstery, so he pulled the stock leather seats, that had very little wear, off and installed the Rosch covers. I sold the stock seats and leather covers in two separate ebay auctions, so I got custom leather seats for around $100.00. As for neoprene...have you tried Wet Okole. They ,make a great product and are located in Costa Mesa, CA.

The hood (along with just about every other mod on my truck) was purchased on ebay around 2002 for $350.00, including shipping. The hood was a prototype design and I don't think the company even exists anymore. It was orginally painted to match, but the paint only lasted about four years and that shop has long since closed (Now I know why it was so cheap) It's a fiberglass hood, but it's heavier than a stock hood, so I've replaced my hood struts three times so far....I'm holding off replacing them again and am using a hood prop for now. It looks good, but I wouldn't recommend it. Find a good steel replacement hood with cowl induction.

Try this
