Just placed my order for 2018 Expedition Platinum. Did not choose the heavy duty tow package.

Will my Exp have a hitch?

Chose - white platinum exterior and ebony interior, bench 2nd row

Yes.
It's hidden behind the rear bumper with a pop off piece in the middle to expose the hitch.

Thanks Brian, so is the heavy duty tow package simply to enable you to tow really heavy loads and have the knob to backup etc.
By the way forgot to say my new exp is 4x4

That's good that the hitch is standard. I like the tow hitch for dump runs with a cargo basket.

lol i would buy a honda odyssey before i bought a 4th gen ex. literally there is nothing more than actual vehicle dimensions to me that sets them apart from the explorers or the suburbans. 3rd gens look more appealing, the dont look like glorified minivans, and they just look badass. 4th gens are too curvy, have too many copy cat items from either other ford vehicles or Chevys, and are wayyyyy overpriced. to each his own. I will say though, out of all the ones that have had pictures posted here, I will rank yours as number one solely bc of the color. Cant beat the platinum tri coat white

Some expys have always had a hitch cover option, but only soccer moms and purse aficionados leave it covered :birgits_tiredcoffee. The Explorer hasn’t even been officially an SUV since 2010.

Back to the original question, I'm assuming even WITHOUT the HD tow package, we'd be able to pull a ski boat, small trailers (with golf carts, etc.), correct?

The HD tow package is literally the only option we DON'T currently have selected.

Yes you should be able to tow 6,600 pounds standard I believe.

Garrett,
I originally posted the question, since then besides the info supplied here by guys on the forum, I got a hold of the November 2017 "Frontline" brochure that is given to dealerships to explain features of the new vehicles. On page 15 - There is a section: Ready for Towing, which states the following:
-standard towing features include:
-4-wire harness and 4-pin connector
-class IV hitch receiver
-heavy duty flasher
-smart trailer tow connector
-trailer sway control.
If you choose as an option the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package - it ADDS other features in addition to the above. Hope this helps - I gleen out of this - yes you can tow the stuff you are asking about. I think if you looking to tow 9300 lbs of trailer etc - you need the "Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package
