I have a 2006 Ford expedition XLT with only 90k original miles. My issue starts with the service AdvanceTrac notification coming on and off at random times. Sometimes when the notification come on the vehicle dies but I’m able to immediately crank it and turn it back on. Just recently I tried starting the truck, it turned over for a second or two then cut off then the service AdvanceTrac notice came on tachometer. I even tried to start the truck from the remote start system I have installed and it still won’t crank. It has a brand new battery and I’m not sure what the issue may be. Could anyone please help shed any light on this situation?

I don’t think your service AdvanceTrac light is related to your no-start, per se; however, the light could be a symptom of the same problem that’s causing your no start, such as a smoked PCM. It could be a plethora of things.

Generally speaking, automatic starts won’t work either if there are any DTCs.

Hook up a scanner, pull your DTCs, and post them here. Otherwise it’s anyone’s guess.

I’ll post them. And what I’m saying is when the vehicle used to start and drive the service advancetrac notification would come on randomly while driving and cause the vehicle to shut off sometimes before it led up to the no crank no start

If I were here, you would know it !
It could be many things, but on another vehicle of mine that had the Advanctrac light come on a few times and then died altogether, and after some checking, my mechanic found that the front wheel hubs & bearings were shot, which caused the ABS system to throw an error into the AVT system, which in turn sent an error to the PCM and therefore caused the no-start lock out to engage...

But as already stated, looking at the codes would probably shed more light on what's actually going on :)

I bought a OBD2 monitor off Amazon and it’s not showing any codes. This is really frustrating especially having to walk 3 1/2 miles back and forth for work..IMG_1459.jpeg

I am at a loss on the starting issue. The one thing I am fairly certain of is that scanner won't help diagnose the AdvanceTrac issue. Most likely it reads the the PCM only and you likely have upwards of 2 dozen modules.

I keep thinking a possible ground issue. Have you checked the ground wires under the hood? Start with the ground lead from the battery.

The grounds on yours will be very similar to the 2003, these are the same on my 2004:

Where can I get this diagram. I’m under the hood and have no idea what I’m looking for

Assuming the engine is not running, but the ignition is set to ON you should have no oil pressure and the PCM only displays that it's low. If the engine is running you have some real issues.

Try this thread for free service manuals that will have some diagrams for the grounds.

I figured it out guys. I replaced the starter and cleaned the grounds and it fired right up after charging the battery. Thank you all for your insights and suggestions and help
