When I turn ignition ON on my 2000 Expedition there is the noise simmilar to air compressor noise. It was there always as long as I can remember but not as loud. I forgot if it is air pump or fuel pump pressurizing the fuel system. Thanks for your input.

It could be the compressor if you have air ride. The rubber bushings that they used to mount the compressor suck and wear out. When they wear out it sounds like crap but dosn't harm it just vibrtates more and again the sound. You can get the new bushing kit for pretty cheap, it's just kind of a pain to get into that area to replace them.

Does it stop when you push the break in or let it out? How about when you give it a slight pedal[less than 2k rpm]
