Hello,
I am new to the Expedition world and to be honest I am not familiar with mechanics and engines.
I personally want to thank bedrck46 for all the help he has given me with this issue.
I am going to try to keep this short so I dont bore you.
So...there is a 1999 Expedition XLT for sale and I want to take a look at it this saturday morning. Here is the issue...when he sent me the VIN number the rating is for 7,200 lbs which would make it a 5.4L engine....now the issue is he said he wasnt sure what engine it had... he said that about 6 months ago his engine needed some work and instead of rebuilding the engine he was able to find an engine of an used Expedition that only had 85,000 miles...so the engine was replaced.
According to him the main reason he doesnt know is because he is in a different state and his daugther was in college here so she got it fixed.
So...the VIN number he sent may have been for the ratings of the original engine...the second may be a 4.6L...
1. Should the new engine (the used one that he put in the car recently) have a different vin number?...or is that just for the car..if it should..where in the engine can I find the VIN number for that engine?
2. I was told that there are visible differences between the engine of a 4.6L and a 5.4L...does anybody have pictures of the two to actually see what are the differences?
3. Should the title reflect a different VIN number or not?
Thank you everybody!
