Hey Guy’s - I have a 98 Expedition. I had a company out of New Jersey “Promar" build me a new enhanced 5.4. They specialize in the old 5.4 lighting engines. I didn’t go extreme, no Whipple super charger. Basically they upgraded the lighting long block with performance cams and springs / PI Heads and intake / slighty larger throttle body / throttle / performance headers and dual exhaust. Changed out the rear end gears to 4/1. The SCT had to write a program for the tune. Even with all that, she still has the same basic issues with coil packs going bad, like she did before. Seems like every 6 months I’m having to replace (1) and then another, etc. The problem is they have gone from $40 to $95 per, if you can find them. I don’t trust the Ebay (China - same same but different) versions. As I’ve had issues in the past. I was told that Motorcraft has discontinued making the? So I would really appreciate an alternative brand suggestion. I tend to lean towards a performance alternative. Just don’t know, there are some many options. Hoping someone has tried upgrading, with a positive result.

Use OEM coils (Denso). Pay once, cry once. Not really saving any money if you have to replace the $40 coil twice.
