Offset of OEM Wheels

What is the offset/backspacing of my stock wheels? I know somtimes wheel backspacing is measured in inches or millimeters. I'm not to familiar with this. Reason I ask is I wanted to upgrade to 18 wheels but don't want the wheels sticking out too much, in other words, I do NOT want that "deep dish" look. I want wheels as tucked in as possible, just like stock.

Well for starters, I do not know why you want a tucked aftermarket rim on a truck. After market rims on a truck should be fat, deep dish and hold a wide tire (295 or a 305).
The offsett on the Expeditions are designated "low". Which means typically (usually) +5 to 0 to -5 mm. I have on my 01 a set of DO-Luck 6 Star 18x10 wheels with a -20 mm offsett (they stick out) wrapped in 315/50/18 tires.

I guess it's just a preference on my part, but believe it or not, my other alternative was to install 20 inch wheels with a size 305/50/20 tire, which I know for a fact will stick out. You bring out a good point as other friends have also suggested the same. Back to the drawing board.

Cool, and that was not in anyway inended to be "hostile or hurtful ", was just some food for thought, I think a truck should have big (not too big, 22/3/4 inch wheels are just disgusting) deep dish, fat tired shoes. Just looks good. But I think some 20's with some 305's would look good as hell on a Expy. Good luck on your hunt.

Do the 315s rub at all over dips or sharp turns? I have my expedition lowered 1.6" and am trying to get the widest tire possible on a 18" 50 or 55 series tire.

Well I do have any issue with tire rub, but I am not lowered any, I was thinking about it, but decided not to. Afactory hight expy on some 20's with 315 tires looks pretty damn good. But I am pretty sure you would be ok because there is about a 3 inch gap on factory ride hight and with about an 1/2 left after lowering, It should be fine, think about, I know people with 24's running 335/35 tires and they have no rub after they slam ther trucks ( ), I hate that shit, if you want a low rider, buy a fucken car. I also have a 03 Cobra, but it's not lowered, never will be. But I think you should be fine.

I want to add on to this thread rather than start something new. I have stock 17" rims on my 03 Expy, wrapped up in some 285 Nittos terragraplers . But I want the wheels to stock out a bit. Not like skateboard style, but enough to make it not look like it's about to topple over. Wide stance. What kind of offset am I looking for? - or +??

I buyed my Expy with 305/40/22 and it looks very good. And the handling on the street is much better. Now i have some 16" for winter and i hate them.
