I opened my Moonroof the other day and it would not close properly. Went to the dealer and they said a software update fixed it. Just posting for anyone else. They said it was a new one for them.

What year is yours? I have a 19 Expedition and a Gen 2 Raptor. Both have had issues with their Moonroofs opening or unable to close. Both needed repairs covered under warranty at the time. I was told they needed mechanical adjustments and lubrication. Even after repairing the moonroof in my expedition, it now rattles. I just picked up a 2024 Platinum F-450 with no moonroof due to my past experiences.

Mine periodically fails to close. It seems like an overactive pinch protection. It always eventually closes but sometimes I have to hold the button down to force it to close. If it's caused by a pinch protection fault it can be resolved by doing a reset.

Edit - I've already had "adjustment and lubrication" completed under warranty.

Purchased 2021 limited late last year. First thing I did was to remove the fuse for the panoramic sun roof.
Not operating the roof won't make it not leak. I agree with @Andy B. I'd rather not have the pano roof, but can't get around Ford's option bundling.

Never saw a panoramic moonroof on a Ford that was aligned properly. Was so on my f150 and the same on my Expedition SPP. Got it re-aligned at the dealer and never had a problem opening or closing it. The glass supposed to be flush with the metal and mine made wind noises on the Expi. There is no software update that I am aware of, but you can put it into a learning mode to relearn open and close stops. For ***** and giggles I tried that a few years ago on the F150.
Also the screws on the holder for the fixed glass on the back can come loose and makes rubbing noises after years. Had that problem too.

What year is yours? My 21 has been doing this and now I cannot get it to close at all. Motor, rails, fuse, etc, are all great.

@Expymama04 it's a 2022 MY. In my experience pinch protection faults don't stop the glass from moving. It also usually triggers the glass to reopen when it's nearly all the way closed. If it's not moving at all or reopening after only moving a little, there is probably another issue.
