I am putting this in General because it could apply to any of the Generations and there isn't an Exterior Lighting section.

I'd like to add some roof mounted lights. I know that a roof basket is ideal for this, but I'd like to see what else people have used. I don't want to just drill a hole in a crossbar, but maybe thats the only option?

Here's the way my truck looked, shortly before I bought it.

Wow that is a lot! I'm doing my lights this weekend, and I think drilling is my only choice. I dont have any brakets to put them on so, yeah... drilling into the crossbar tomorrow.

The basket and lights were removed right before I bought it. I don't know if they were 55w cheapos or a good quality light. I see evidence that they were wired up, but I don't know if they even actually worked. The truck was originally built to go to trade shows to attract attention for a tent / awning company.

That sucks you couldn't keep it the way it was. It looked good. I'm going to be drilling into my cross member once I get home too. Should look good. Also why don't you put them behind the grill? That would look good too. Not to many expos have them there. Only a hand full on this fourm so you could be unique in your town or city too.

I have a push bar up front, so I will probably mount a pair on that, plus 4 on the roof. Two in front and two in back.

The ones on the roof in front will be angled like 45 degrees or so from front. I have a unique situation for my lights that most of you wouldn't need.

One thing I saw on another thread (might have been the other forum too) is that apparently carriage bolts will fit in the rails. That might be just what I need to mount a custom bracket at all four corners. I'll have to get a couple bolts and see what fits.

BTW I hav 3 sets of cheap foglights mounted under my truck. They are great for if you need to dig out, or just dropped something on the ground getting out. Lol!
