I have a 2007 Ford Expedition EL 5.4. At low RPMs there is no power steering, but at higher RPMs everything is fine. My guess is the power steering pump. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue. Thanks!

Are you hearing any whining sound when you turn left/right. How is the fluid level/condition? Is your belt loose or worn. Is your SUV 2 or 4wheel drive? Check to make sure you have no hose or pump leaks. If it's just your fluid low that could cause your problem. Let us know what you find.

To be sure, theirs a pressure tester that hooks up in between of both pump and rack. Theirs a video online. Their is specifications for both. I don't think you can rent the tester, so you might have to pay a shop to do that test, or you take a shot and pop on a new pump.
