sup guys.new to the forum and ive got tons of questions to ask.hope you guys have all the patience:) :D
i just bought a 2000 expedition and its equipped with a PROcharger.i noticed on the pillar gauge that its pumping about 8-10PSI boost when i nail the pedal.it also came with a diablochip module with LED and switch for 3 optional tune(tune1,tune2 and stock) and NOS.
i got the SUV from a dealer and they wont tell me or give me the old owners number so i could ask the questions i have(client privacy)
heres my dillema....the diablochip is just in the glove compartment and not installed.
i went thru the ATI Procharger website and found out that the kit comes complete with everything(intercooler, supercharger, pipesprogrammer etc..etc..).i also went to diablo website and saw in the FAQ section that "you cannot use both the programmer and the chip module at the same time.(they were refering to the diablo programmer and diablochip)
questions...
1.would it be safe for me to go ahead and install the chip?
2.should i even bother with the chip?
3.im not sure if the old owner reverted the truck computer back to stock form or kept the modified computer setup.should i have it checked?
4.do you think its wise to have the diablo chip checked too for what kind of tune(tune 1 & 2)were programmed in the module?

the truck does run sweet right now and i havent had any problems with it so far.the engine sounds pretty healthy too and really has a very wicked kick/punch when you floor the pedal.
thankz in advance for the replies:D :)

If the dealer pulled the chip you can really screw some things up.... so I would assume the programmer is what the truck is running off now if it is running okay. Also know that you will probably always need to be running your truck on super unleaded. I would definitely try to contact the previous owner. I would also pressure the dealership if you are still under the warranty period with them (if there is one) in the case you could blow something up if the correct tune isn't in the truck. They might budge if they think they could lose money on the warranty.
If you plug the chip into the computer you will override any program that is in the computer reflashed or stock.

There are too many variables.

Do you have a larger fuel pump or are you running an FMU w/stock fuel pump?
Are you running larger injectors?
Are you running a factory MAF?
How much fuel pressure are you seeing?
Any detonation at all?

If I were you, I'd get the above answered and I'd also go to a Diablo dealer to look at the tune on the chip.

For all you know, the chip has custom tunes tailored for your particular truck. Or not.

The previous owner could have half-@ssed the install, got frustrated, then sold it to the dealer. Or not.

These trucks can be reliable but you could also be driving around with an an unsafe tune.

I'd have someone who knows about Procharged installs go over your truck. Including any potential tune that is now in your ECU. Make sure everything is OK or you could be in for some real headaches.

I'd also refrain from pushing that motor until you get the above figured out.

Where are you located?
