So. My wife has been telling me about an intermittent faint alarm/siren sound coming from the passenger side under the dash Upon start up. I finally heard it today. It is quiet. But resembles an alarm sound kinda like the stupid electronic ones on power tools in the big box stores. I have no idea what it could be. Anyone out there have an idea? I guarantee when I take it to the deal it isn’t going to do it....

You did check both glove boxes for a left behind toy, electronic or something? It’s going to be asked. So it might as well be the first question.

Radar detector? Hamburger left behind in back seat? So far a lot of these weird wild goose chase threads have ended in hilarity.
Good luck.

Yep. My stereo volume going to zero inexplicably was eventually tracked down to a tall 5yo in the second row with his toe on the volume button and a huge grin on his face.

BUT!! I may have an answer for this one. If your passenger airbag light is burnt out or the connection is bad in that warning light for one reason or another, there is a warning beep. At least there was on previous models/gens. Google "ford passenger airbag beeping".

When the passenger seat is unoccupied, you should see the orange light in the center stack right under the screen lit up. If you don't, there is a problem with the bulb. Even if you do, the beeping may indicate something wonky with that sensor.

That would be my first thing to have checked.

What timing!! I have a 2wk old MAX Limited and I also have this faint beep. I need to take it in, but dont want them to spend an entire day trouble-shoooting so thats why i came here first.
Few more details are
  • that it only happens once I exceed 40 mph (I have not heard it before that threshold).
  • The noise is coming from the drivers side
  • the noise is constant, meaning it does not come in and out
I am thinking that based on the fact that it starts at 40mph that it could be related to the active grill shutters? thoughts?

You can set up the MyKey to give you speed warnings in addition to top speed warnings; I wonder if that’s your issue.

hmmm. thats a good thought. The other idea is it could be lane keep assist as it does not initiate until 40mph. it is very faint and obviously a malfunction.
