2004 Ford Expedition, 292,000 miles and still running!

It’s probably never been re-greased on the rack and pinion since 2004. Was doing the inner tie rods today and was wondering what type of grease to use, how much and if there was a recommended procedure to grease the rack and pinion. Yes I’m aware, lifetime grease, but I don’t think there’s any guidance for cars after 20 years. I do not believe there is any water intrusion.

So Which Kind? How much? Should I bother with it?

I have not greased mine, course I have replaced it twice in 300k miles as well. The 1st Ford reman didn't last very long and was replaced under warranty at just under 2yrs and I think 40k miles. I don't recall ever greasing a steering rack. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in here as I'm interested.

If I was to grease it I'd likely use a moly grease.
