Could replace the OEM style grill with a different style aftermarket grill that costs less.

07-14 non-original OEM style is the cheapest, though... only costs about 70 bucks

so the estimate is in!!

First off, not totaled out! Thank god!

They put the vehicles value at $9200

The cost to repair is.

$5200 so far.

As they take it apart the value could move, but we have quite a bit of wiggle room.

Thats also using aftermarket and used parts. . . .

Had a friend back home in KS that would write my estimate for the insurance co using new parts (as they requested). Then use used or aftermarket parts (at my request) and pass the difference to me. It was usually enough to cover the deductible.

That’s good! When I totaled my last 2007 they were at $7,000 before they popped the hood. My front doors would not open, frame was damaged, radiator support and fan right up against engine etc.....wasn’t pretty. They totaled it out right away, didn’t want that truck back anyway.

My initial quote for a deer strike was ~3k (2006 Explorer)

Total ended up being ~$6,500

I could try and get a ford original parts quote but I rather not deal with it right now. I'm sure that would put me well over the limit as well and just don't want it totaled and I'm sure there is more damage to be seen that's not accounted for.

They told me a couple parts that are obvious, but I don't have a list just yet. I will give them a day or 2 to get it all sorted and then bother them for a list of parts.

The doors open just fine and the body seams look great at the door. There is no obvious frame damage, it drives straight down the road so here is to hoping that its still good when they dig deeper.

Under 6 grand, good for you Max!

The totals aren't in, (although in my own experience, they never have had to go back for more) and the estimate doesn't really matter to MAX....but they ARE fixing your truck, and that's what really counts. I'm happy for you Max....I got hit by a deer too a while back so I know the bs stress involved.

Besides guys, I had an unfair advantage....not only am I a horrible driver on 4 wheels(so I see a lot of body shop invoices), I Estimate for a living. Imagine that, I get paid quite well for, well, guessing!

It's really a rather beautiful thing....to have a job where you cannot be "wrong" because you are only guessing<lol>!

Well Jeff's prediction keeps getting closer and closer. As stated during tear down they are finding more and more damaged.

I asked them about the headlight and fog lights, I guess the insurance adjuster figured my smashed fog light was not in need of replacement.

They are still doing the tear down and should have a complete list Monday.

so what makes you think you need to share a bunch of useless chatter, just get it fixed and save the drama.

You're the only drama here buddy, if you don't like it feel free to not come back.

I share because everyone likes a little carnage now and then.

Here's the deal, buddy, there is not a woman in the entire industrialized world who would turn a car-deer accident into attention getting dribble forum posts. The woman would call her insurance company and her lawyer and get on with her life.
