Rear Diff cover removal

Hello all,

I believe I have a leaky drivers side axle seal out of the rear diff. When I took a look at taking the rear diff cover off, it doesn't seem to easy. Seems like you have to drop the diff to remove the cover. Is this correct? What is involved and is this something that could be down in my garage or somewhere where they can get it in the air?
