Our 2018 Platinum "Shorty" rear hatch has been behaving rather oddly. In a certain type of situation, the hatch will refuse to close:
If the passenger then pushes the button on the hatch again, it goes back to the full-open position. Push the button again, and it goes about 1/3 of the way, stops, and the horn beeps twice. If the driver pushes the button on the dash, it does the exact same thing. Imagine this happening at the airport drop-off!
In this situation, the only way I can get the hatch to close is by turning the ignition ON and pushing the button on the dash. The hatch then goes to the full-open position. If I then push the button a second time, the hatch finally closes.
As you can imagine, this is a PITA. Before I take it to the dealer I was wondering if anyone else may have experienced something similar?
- Park and turn the ignition OFF.
- Driver stays seated and belted in.
- Driver pushes the button on the dash to open the rear hatch.
- A passenger gets out, goes around and gets something out of the back, then pushes the button on the hatch to close it
- The hatch closes about 1/3 of the way, stops, and the horn beeps twice.
