rear wiper

I have an '03. The rear wiper has quit working this week. Fuse #1 and #38 are good. Glass raised the arm pivots fine. If anyone would like to walk me through how to proceed I would appreciate it.

If the linkage still works and the wiper arm cycles fine with the glass lifted then it sounds like the motor has gone bad... Local junkyard charged my ~ $80 for a used/remanufactured one.

Doesn't look to be too bad of a chore and Mama wants it fixed for when she drives it soooooooo. BS that it would fail as much as it gets used. Thanks.

Pull the arm
Push the shaft though the glass clean it and grease it.
Re assemble.
Works like a dream.

Mine stopped working about 4 months ago.
Did this and it's been working great since.

That's why I claimed its probably a failed motor if he linkage and arm operate properly... Motor is simple:

Pull rear hatch panel off (series of clips) be careful not to break them

Then at the motor there are about 4-5 bolts holding the motor on, they'll be removed

Make sure the motor is unplugged and the lift hate glass release also unplugged

Source a new/replacement motor for the wiper and install that (if a hatch glass motor doesn't come attached to the new wiper motor then you must attach to old hatch glass release motor and plug them both in after bolting them on

Put the hatch panel back on being careful of the clips and give it a test should work properly..

That's a rough how-to for the motor but it is honestly quite simple one of the easiest fixes I had on my truck so far.

Mine pivoted just fine with the glass raised also but it had enough resistance that the motor couldn't turn it.

Had that issue before too and just took it apart and greased it like you said

It moves so easily a slight breeze could move it. I am going to get someone to help make sure the motor is getting power before I buy one tho. I have a meter but checking batteries is about all I'm good for. Thanks.

Rear Wiper Wheel thingy.

Hello everyone. I purchased a 2004 Expedition at auction. So far I have replaced the front impact sensor, master window switch and rear floor/ceiling actuator door for HVAC. Mind you, I suck at anything mechanical. What I discovered was that the rear wiper didn't work. While troubleshooting, I discovered I was missing the wheel with the hole in it that would turn and move the wiper arm. Can that be purchased separately? Instead of purchasing an entire wiper motor that is. Also, what is it actually called?

Would 100% try to find that at junkyards/pick n pulls because even if ford will replace that part it'll be expensive unless bought secondhand.
Something to check is if the motor is working even without that "linkage spindle gear" haha... But if the motor works then I'd just head to junkyard and try to yank the wheel off another motor.
I replaced the motor and linkage and wiper arm assembly on my 06 after I purchased it in the fall and it works great... I'm not very mechanically inclined either but it's an easy job just removing the rear hatch plastic cover and then basically bolts after that.

Mine recently went out, and of course it stopped out of it's normal off position, it's virtually impossible to force it back into the resting position.

Gonna look at it sooner or later.
