Replacement of outside mirrors

Hey again,

I wanted to replace both of my outside mirrors on my 98 Eddie Bauer 5.4. I have a few questions.

They do have the lighted turn signal built into them and they are electric meaning the glass moves with a switch inside on the drivers door. I am not sure if they are heated? Not sure how to tell?

Also can anyone tell me a good place to purchase them from for a good price. My auto shop here wants $200.00 for each mirror, seems high. Dont want real cheap crap ones, want something that will hold up.

Muth Mirrors made the signal mirrors for the 1st gen. Expedition.

My existing mirrors are not black but painted blue to match the color of the truck. Do they make mirrors that match. I checked the web site but dont see anything but black. Nobody is there today.

Anyone know what Ford would charge? Thanks.

only black for expedition unless you have the limited EB that is chocolate white...you could buy navigator mirrors...they may come painted

Anyone have any luck rebuilding the original mirrors? The drivers side is in good shape, the passenger side will move all over the place when I am driving, have to keep adjusting it. Didn't pull it apart yet. Just curious if anyone has been able to change all the interior parts?

What color are they now? Why do you want to cap them?

You happen to have the most expensive mirror out of all the expys of that gen. They will cost around $200. The outer painted piece with the turn signal costs $125 a piece compared to the non turn signal mirror outer piece which goes for $15. I broke the outer piece once and had it replaced. The whole assembly is not cheap so i would expect not much less than $200. The paint i had done at a local tech school and they did a great job and only charged for paint. I would try Ebay and to get more search results the Lincoln navigator has the same assembly as does some of the F-150s. Just make sure u get the turn signal mirror so the electrical connectors line up. I dont think any mirrors for the expedition will fit that have less features. There aren't many expeditions i have seen other than mine with that outer turn signal so those mirrors are bound to be rare.

Mine are the xlt mirrors, They are Black with a chrome cap on the front, I painted them black for temperary
