We headed to Pennsylvania this morning. We left the house at 6:18 AM and Arrived here at 2:10 with three stops including a gas and breakfast in one of the stops. We drove from Fort Wayne Indiana to Enola Pennsylvania about 525 miles. I filled up at the last rest stop on the Ohio Turnpike before crossing the border into PA and after 3-1/2 hours of driving I still have over 1/2 tank of gas.

I got 18.2 MPG averaged over the trip here. I topped off my 1/2 tank of regular with mid graded before we left and I had slightly less than half a tank, which I filled up with premium before we went through the mountains in PA.

The EcoBoost performed flawlessly. It has power out the @ss. I was like it was connected to my brain, I said pass these @ssholes (that kept hanging in the left lane) I looked down I was doing 95 and they were way behind.

It passed on the long hills with authority without downshifting. I am more than very pleased with the performance.

I am happy with the gas mileage considering I was doing 77-78 most of the way, except where the speed limit was 65 then I was doing 72. Passed two cops at speed and they didn't even bat an eye.

Well we'll see what the return trip looks like with the crappy PA gas.

Nice one. I remembered our trip from Pittsburg to Chicago on my uncle's Lincoln Continental. Imagine riding on a big car, you could hardly feel the road vibration and wind noise. But that was in '81.

Nice!! The new Expy's with the twin turbo is an excellent road trip vehicle. I have been in Finland for two weeks now and rarely see an American vehicle. Actually, I have seen more older classic mustangs, corvettes and cameros than modern US cars. Of course, gas here averages $7-$8/gallon. Finland is an EU welfare state but very clean, no graffiti, well disciplined country.

Enjoy your return trip!!

Are you back from Finland or are you still there?

I have to say that the Expedition was very comfortable and quiet, but I did notice that the suspension was more bouncy compared to the 05 with the air bag suspension. It was most noticeable on dips in the road, not actual potholes.

Still in Finland. Nice place, but can't beat the good ol' USA. I never noticed any bounce to the suspension, but I came from an F150, so can't compare. To me, it is a perfect road trip vehicle. Now my wife wants one.... She has been driving my Expy since I have been in Finland. Could be trouble....

It's the Pennsylvania roads. It only happened in a couple of spots on the turnpike and I never noticed it at home. I think it happens because you are in a turn at 77 MPH and the road dips under you and then pops back up so you kind of get this corner bounce thing going on.

Gives you an excuse to get his and hers Expeditions. :D

Careful Andy...as you well know....show up too soon at the next exit on the PA turnpike and they will happily write you a ticket while you wait at the booth!

I use an Escort 8500X and it works flawlessly but I always plan my stops to be on the TP instead of blowing straight through after nearly getting a ticket on the Breezewood to Youngstown run on my way to Lexington OH.....

The things they call "mountains" here on the East coast are very different from the things that are called Mountains in Colorado!!

:D Nothing showed up in my in box and no one was waiting for me at the toll booth so we were good and we generally kept it at 77 except when passing. :)
