I am getting a loud "roar" when I hit about 70mph on the Interstate, to the point that I have to substantially increase the radio volume to continue to hear the radio. I recently returned from a trip to western Colorado, about 3K miles total. Neither my wife or I recall hearing this in all of those miles. It does seem to be speed related rather than RPM. I'm guessing I will start by having the tires checked out, but I am experiencing no vibration or handling issues.

If anyone has any ideas of where to start looking at this, I will be most appreciative!

Wheel bearings. Very common. If you do the front. Replace the vacuum hub locks for the 4x4.
Thanks very much. That makes sense. I have changed the hub locks before but I will have to look through my receipts to see when that was and what the mileage was. Will have that checked post-haste!

A bad rear wheel bearing will telegraph noise throughout the drivetrain. If one is bad, the other will probably fail within a year or two, so replace them both at the same time.
