I had to buy a replacement set. The ones that came on my Platinum from the factory broke with my Thule car box on top. Set was around $180. Now that I am home... My dealership has covered the broken one under warranty and refunded my money. Actually, they just got me a pair for my wife's Explorer and refunded me the difference.
@Randy Schmidt : how did the Thule break the crossbar? how much weight did you have in there?

The Thule Cartop box broke the rear cross bar twice. I was under the weight limit that Ford and Thule suggest. I have since had the Expedition into my local Ford dealership and they tell me that they cross bars aren't made correctly because they are adjustable and when fully extended to meet the width requirement for the Expedition, they cannot support much weight. They said it is a manufacturing defect and will report it to Ford. In the meantime, they are going to "engineer" something to reinforce them.

Hmmm - I just looked at my crossbars, and I don't think they're "extendable". Perhaps your dealership didn't use the correct bars?
Here are what mine look like - they're pretty solid, and state "Max load 92 kg" on each one.

Mine are exactly the same. On the underside, there are two screws on the drivers side (non adjustable) and a single screw of the passenger side (adjustable)

I hate the new roof rack. I have an expensive Yakima setup for my bikes and kayaks etc. I was told(by my salesman) that there were just some inserts in the side rails for aerodynamics that are easily removed and I could use my Yakima rack on the 2018 just like I could on my 2015. Unfortunately today was the first chance I had to go kayaking this summer and I tried to mount the Yakima to the new roof rack. There aren't panels. The old sturdy aluminum side rails have been replaced by plastic garbage. The whole thing just snaps together. You can't mount anything to them other than proprietary ford crossbars with a maximum weight of 100#. You can't adjust the crossbars infinitely by sliding in the old track either. Now you have one mounting point forward and three positions to the rear. Way to take a simple thing and move backward Ford. I will say that a lot of other things have been improved over the '15 but this was a big letdown.

Thule is supposed to make a system that works with these Ford factory rails. It's kinda expensive compared to the factory cross bars.
So does anyone have updates on cross bars? Ski season is fast approaching and I need to get some cross bars ordered, but I don't want to order something that's going to break.
I'm debating on selling my Thule carrier and just getting a carrier that attaches to the hitch if the cross bars are having issues.
For our Odyssey, I ordered the rails and crossbars from ASGAutosports and had good luck, but they don't show anything for Expeditions.
Anyone have any info?

Just order the Ford ones... They fit the vehicle the best and are covered under your warranty. I have had mine replaced under warrant, no questions asked. First I bought them because I was out of state, but when I got back, they remimbursed me and gave me a backup set under warranty.
I've now done 2 10+ HR road trips with the largest Yakima roof case (fully loaded) strapped to the factory rails with ZERO issues. I think that issue mentioned before might have been a one-off. I even opened the roof while doing 75mph to look at the rails. They were solid.
