Hey all!

I have a 2018 Expedition Platinum with 130k miles on it. I noticed when I’m in park and rev the engine it doesn’t go beyond 4k RPM. It almost just seems like it hits a wall and won’t go beyond that.

Does anyone have an idea as to possibly why or if this is normal?

Thanks!

Totally normal. Rev limiter to protect the engine/transmission (in case someone where to pop it into D).

Thanks!! I’ve had so many small issues with the truck. I love it but just want to make sure it’s running as smooth as possible.

Thanks again!

Your Expy will serve you well. Don't be influenced/bothered by all of the posts you see on this Forum. Just remember, people post on here asking about their problem/issue or to give advice and help others. Considering the number of Expeditions made, the number of users on here represent a very small fraction of total Expy owners. Usually people don't come on this Forum to say great things about their Vehicle or how much they are enjoying it, but are here to voice some problem. Overall, our Expeditions are pretty good vehicles.

Well, I love my Expy and enjoy driving it every time I get in it, and will probably buy a newer one (but not brand new though) when it dies, which hopefully is a ways down the road, since it only has ~84k on it :)

Yea, it's old, but in excellent condition, and has had it's share of small, easy-to-fix issues, but nothing significant enough to make me want get rid of it or go out & buy any other brand/make/model SUV....

And I also try to share my experiences/knowledge/tips when possible (whether Expy-related or not), because I have learned a lot from others who post things here & I want to return the favor !

I find the ecoboost 3.5 is so torquey, I never really need to rev it at all, and its really not the sort of vehicle to be lead footing unless you want truly atrocious gas mileage. When towing a trailer up a long steep grade at freeway speeds I *might* see 4000 RPM but most of the time its down in the 1500-2000 rpm range.

Mine there is literally either Eco or Boost. The best gas mileage I get is between 80 and 90km/h. After hitting 110km/h the eco part is out the window. However, from 0 to 100 it goes in 5.2 secs at sea level. That is pretty fast for an upright closet on wheels. Once in Sport mode and pedal to the metal, she’s gone…
O.k. My GT500 with extra goodies will blow the doors off just about anything. But still, for a full size, factory bone stock Expy Stealth Performance Package, which is half ways affordable if you get a deal on, that is impressive.
Off course there is the Escalade V series… but that is a Supercharged V8 and I could buy 2 fully loaded Expy’s for that price and have mod or gas money or both left over. And then I watch the Escalade V in my rearview disappear. Out of all full size SUV’s the Expedition is the lightest is weight.
