I removed spark plugs from a 2002 Expedition at 205k miles. This will be the second time changing these out (done elsewhere at 100k). The second spark plug, on the driver side, has some rubber with a small hole in it that rode up with the spark plug and is preventing the replacement from going in. Nothing broke off of any of the spark plugs. Any ideas what this is and how I can get it out?

Find something to thread into it and pull it out ? That's a weird one. The only "rubber" I can think of is the coil boot. But whatever. It's not supposed to be in there, so yank it out.

Did you get the rubber out? One time I found a small rock in there after a could get a bite on the plug. It's best to blast the spark plug well with compressed air before you try to remove plugs, never know what might come flying out.
