Love my 2011 XLT - Just got to 5000 miles. Rotated tires and found that all 4 shocks / struts are leaking. A couple pretty bad. Took to dealer and they confirmed. All 4 being replaced. Ford must have got a bad batch of shocks from manufacturer when mine was built. Anyone else see this??

Thank you Crystal. I appreciate that. I have rarely had any problems with my service dealer Byerly Ford. I do a lot of work myself but there are times I need the professionals. Funny because I have never bought a car from them. No reason other than special circumstances at other dealers which resulted in a purchase. Byerly is very close to my home and they have always treated me right on service. Waiting on the parts right now and then the installation. I feel confident they will get me done as soon as possible. Appreciate your offer.

I did notice a difference in my ride. As you may know, this truck rides so much different, very firm but soft. (at least vs my 2000)

I started to notice a little rougher ride in the rear over the last couple months. I really thought it was my imagination. Then when I rotated the tires I noticed the oily tubes. Sure enough, where I thought the ride had changed slightly, in the rear, those shocks were leaking the most.

You can check without removing wheels by laying down and looking up at the strut assembly.

You're very welcome, svfetter! I'm glad that Byerly takes such great care of you. :)

What would be the best replacement shocks for a non EL Expedition? I am coming up on 100k on mine and think I am going to include it in my 100k service.

Thanks!

My rear struts were leaking in my 07 EL around 90k. They were replaced with some unknown brand at a chain repair shop and I thought the ride was *worse* in that the leaky ones had better control than the new ones (much to my dismay).

Now at about 130k I've installed the loaded Rancho leveling kit and replaced the original fronts and the replacement rears. These struts have fantastic control and give about 1-2 inches of lift. The only downside that I have found is that you have to crawl under the truck to make any adjustments unless you spend another $500 or so for the in-cab controller. The struts aren't cheap since they are loaded with springs and adjustable struts, so there are definitely less expensive ways to go, depending upon what you want to achieve.

I owe the forum some photos of the before an after install, but so far I've been very happy with the Ranchos.
