My RH power folding mirror has failed and I'm going to try to get from a junkyard. I have a Limited, so the back mirror cap is painted. The options are limited so I am wondering if the caps are removable (and if so, how involved it is)?

The dealer replaced the RH outside power folding mirror (heated & with BLIS) after damaging it during a repair visit. I bought the vehicle new and it had the mirror caps painted the body color.

The service advisor said the technician would swap the painted mirror cap to the new mirror assembly. I don’t know how it was done, but the service advisor said it was easy.

Perhaps if you get the used mirror assembly you could easily pry on the cap edges to see if it simply dislodges?

Prior to posting, I wasn't able to find info on removing the cap - just replacing the entire mirror. When I search the exact term you used, it came up.

You can pretty much find out how to do most anything to any vehicle using various wording of the part your trying to fix/access/replace. If one phrase dosen't work try re-wording the phrase. Plenty of info and video's for just about anything. I've used it alot over the years doing DIY repairs on our different rv's, wifes Subi, my previous Ranger, and now my Expy. Even fixed washing machine and dishwasher.....thus not needing repairman or new machine.
