Howdy...I carry my inflatable as well as ladders and lumber, etc. frequently on my new ('15) Expy. And I don't want to run ropes from the tow hooks over the grill/hood for obvious reasons. So, what to do?...Google showed several hood tie downs to buy for $20.00+, but being a cobbler, I thought there must be a cheaper/better way. So, off to HF and their many ratchet tie down options, which led me to a $5.00 solution. I cut the 500 lb test rated 1" straps off, so that I had two identical 8" long straps with hooks. Then I hack sawed of the hook ends so that I basically had HD "D" rings, and coated the cut ends with 5 minute epoxy to protect the paint. Then I folded the cut end of the strap over itself 1" and laminated the 2 plys together with super glue for support, and drilled a hole for the hood bolt. When not being used, the strap is invisible...
